Organized by the ANCF (Association Nationale Civam Fermier), the “Pari Fermier” trade fairs and markets have been bringing together farmers for more than 20 years to highlight the good products of the French terroirs. Charcuterie, dairy products, wines, artisan beers, foie gras, honey, and so many other specialties to be tasted on the spot or to take home. You will find everything!
A smaller version of the famous “Salon de l’Agriculture” held every year at the Parc des Expositions, you might say? Well, it is not as simple as that. Indeed, we are miles away from the crowded aisles of Porte de Versailles, its stands of major brands and the visits of politicians. Here, thanks to farm products produced in a non-industrial way in small workshops and in a perspective of sustainable agriculture, a much more human face of the profession is at display. With barely any media coverage, these meetings are held in a good-natured atmosphere, and since farmers produce and sell their products directly without any commercial intermediary, prices are much more attractive than those usually practiced in Paris. These events are held in very beautiful locations such as the Parc Floral de Paris, the Bergerie Nationale de Rambouillet or the Marché des Enfants Rouges in Paris.
And if you are seduced, a very beautiful book mixing recipes, reports, and portraits of farmers exhibitors has just been published by Larousse, so to prolong the journey.
